Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Bourbon Whiskey
The fourth and final release in Old Forester's heralded Whiskey Row series, Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Bourbon Whiskey is a throwback to a specific instance in the distillery's history. In 1910 the bottling line was shut down due to a fire and there was a vat of mature whisky waiting to be bottled and in jeopardy of being ruined. To preserve this liquid gold it was re-barreled until the line could be repaired. It was the first documented instance of "double barreled" whisky. To replicate that 1910 innovation, this whisky is secondarily aged in a heavily charred oak cask, with an entry proof of 100, until it is ready for bottling. With rich notes of vanilla, caramel, cake batter and a hint of Marzipan, there is a lot going on here. Accenting notes of stewed fruit and oak spice add to its complexity. Full-bodied and balanced with evident notes of charred sugar, cooked fruit and a wisp of smores around the fire pit. Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Bourbon is an enjoyable whisky that you're going to want to keep in your constant rotation!
